Meal giveaway to families impacted by coronavirus

Jul 21, 2020 12:19:00 PM • By Michael Barley

Times are tough, so several groups are joining to feed Harrisburg area families and seniors in need...

On July 16, meals will be handed out at Underdog Sports Bar and Grill at 3100 Paxton St. in Swatara Township to those financially impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The event runs 4-6 p.m.

The giveaway is part of “Take Out on PA Skill,” a statewide effort through Pennsylvania Skill and its partners to help struggling families. Capitol Vending is teaming up to assist with Thursday’s event.

Pennsylvania Skill provides legal skill amusement games and distributes them to hundreds of local small businesses in the coin-operation entertainment industry. It made a $250,000 donation - the equivalent of 750,000 meals - in April to Feeding Pennsylvania, which provides funding to nine Pennsylvania food banks.

In June, the “Take Out On PA Skill” program provided nearly 600 meals to people in Williamsport.
